New Lance 861 (didn't happen)

Over the last few months I've been thinking of buying a new camper.. With the economy in the tank, I've decided to just keep the 820 until the windows and door fall out. My depression fell to an all time low this morning after checking my 401K..... In 10 months it's lost -31.8 percent.. I noticed even my dogs not happy. He sitting over on the neighbors porch. Anyone need their grass cut or maybe a car wash?

Check it out here.. If you look to the right you'll see a function box that you can turn on all the projected path models.

RE: Potential for Hurrican Kyle: my very early thoughts, NYC?

quote=rwmmdj Just a note, as few as 7 days out, Ike was not even going to get to Texas...
These things go thier own way, and probabilities are just those. quote
If you check Silversands first post in his thread "Hurricane Ike: my early thoughts " he predicted where it would hit... he's pretty good.
You need to read the thread
Can you do better.
I read your profile looking for your experences... and travels. I must have missed something.
We kind of had a stake in Ike hitting Texas.. Our 5er WAS sitting on the west end of Galveston Island, just a week or so before Ike hit. We had it move to a safe location up near Dallas. Info from Siversands help in our decision to get it the heck out of there. Also one of the best web sites for tracking these storms is StormPulse.

RE: Ohio Valley TC Weekend VI (Fall Outing)

People...
Cindy and I had to cancel our reservation for next weekend. With everything that's going on in Galveston/Houston we are heading south with our camper and utility trailer loaded with generators, chainsaws, (lots of fuel) water, etc.
(I hate needy relatives)

RE: Stable Lift

Emotional diatribes in support of a costly expenditure do nothing to contradict what I have posted. They also don't negate the fact that some owners of campers equipped with the SL have reported experiencing damage from its use.
I don't think I remember reading anything about TC damage caused by SL.. LINK?

RE: Hurricane Ike: my early thoughts

We had our Raptor 5er hauled off Galveston Island, Tx 2 weeks ago. I was told it's sitting next to a barn up north of Dallas.. Living up in Northern Ohio, I just have to take my kids word for it. It's not going back to the Island until late November, if the Island is still there, and if I can find it!!!
Neighbors laugh at us for not building something on our property..
This is why...
I do envy the double-wides on sticks when the weathers good!!

RE: Kelderman Air lift kit

I've helped install 2 complete kits.. One on a 07 F350 and the other on a Dodge 3500.. Changing over to a 4 link was easy.. Both were installed to "LIFT" the truck and still get a decent highway ride. Both trucks, even the owners, will describe as toys. The air bags used in these kits would have no problem holding up any camper, and then some.. The biggest problem is the cost...
I was very surprised by the ride at moderately low pressure. I thought it would rock or sway.. It was better than any of us expected.
On Edit.. I've never seen a TC loaded on either.. I do know that the F350 hauls a Montana 5er.

RE: Don't want too - but I might HAVE too........

I wouldn't take the 5er...I'd take the credit cards..
give yourself plenty of time to find fuel.. start looking well above 1/4 tank. Find truck stops..

RE: Stolen Montana

It got me thinking of putting a switch in the circuit that would lock the trailer brakes once the trailer is hooked to a T.V. There has to be someway to protect our investmen.
It's funny you mentioned that.. I have worked on the side for a recovery company. We snatched a TT that apparently had the plug wired wrong or intentionally wired to reversed the brake wires to do just that.. We dragged it out of a driveway and noticed something wasn't right, so we just pulled the plug and hauled it back to the lot with no lights..
The best defense for a 5er is a locking pin collar.

RE: Hurricane Gustav: watch out along Gulf coast!

We watch the SeaWall in Galveston, Tx.. When we see local people running we know it's time to leave. I don't think it's going to get to bad here.
Here's a live webcam of "The Spot" ( mms://72.249.58.52/spot )
you have to cut and paste the address into your browser.. Can't make a working link of it.. You will also need Windows Media Player..

Winter Honda 2000i storage planning

I would like to get this right for once.. Being a really old guy that has gone through many many winters without prepping anything with no problem found myself last spring having to fix everything with a small gas engine. My generator, lawn mower, rototiller, brush hog, and garden tractor all had to have the carbs cleaned and tanks drained. I've always used a gas stabilizer with good results. Whats the answer to this? Run everything dry? What do you do?

RE: anybody with Lance 830 experience yet?

The side entry, while handy for people who tow, requires the sacrifice of an appreciable amount of storage space, both interior as well as exterior. IMO this makes this version much less usable when compared to the rear door setup.
What truck are you planning on carrying this on? A 1ton SRW would seem to be a perfect match.
While the cassette toilet has an admittedly smaller holding tank its ease of dumping into a myriad of locations besides an RV dump (home/rest stop/truck stop toilet, pit toilet, sewer cleanout, or even into a larger RV's holding tanks) can turn that into an asset depending on your camping plans. The smaller tank size also cuts down on chemical usage, thus saving a little money.
yes, doing away with what I assume is a floor to ceiling closet in that corner????? would be sort of a bummer, unless you need/want that rear tent bed.
I would like to at most get a 350 SRW PU to carry it on. does anybody know the "true" weight of theirs?
